Dominaria United Draft #8 | 5 MERIA’S OUTRIDERS | MTG Arena | Draft Punks

Alright, time for a maths problem everyone: what’s 5 multiplied by 5? The answer is 25 damage to the face just with Meria’s Outriders in Dominaria United draft. MTG Arena thought that we needed to attack to end the game, but the Draft Punks have different ideas.

  1. PotW isn't really exiting this time, you just have to pick the card most alighning with your gameplan, for which land is mmmhmm… ACCEPTABLE! And in regards to Temporary Lockdown, I recently got the trophy with my Nemata abzan deck in best of 3 Arena draft. The glory moment was when I managed to capture 7 creatures, including Elas il-Kor and Knight of Dawn's Light with it.

5 Meria's Outriders Deck, final Meria's Outrider count: THREE.

  2. That was a top notch announcer voice! Now I'll feel compelled to incorporate more voice cues into my comments for you to read out. You know what they say: the reward for a job well done, is that you get to do it forever 😉

  3. PotW: I'm with you taking the Geothermal Bog this time. With 2 Brawlers in first 4 picks you want to go domain and second colour will be mostly red or black, so it isn't even double offcolour at this point.

Starting hands seemed unlucky, but in hindsight I would have played Goblin Picker instead of the Monstrosity just to trade off in early game. Just one cheap removal, only one three drop, deck was somewhat open to get run over by good curve out from opponent.

  4. PotW: I'm with Adrian here – not the Berserker, but Bite Down & BR land are both viable. I'd lean Bite Down, but Sam's argument makes sense!

Not gonna lie, I don't really look at the thumbnails of y'all's videos. I just see Draft Punks and click to watch immediately.

If the baseline is "0-1 into 7-2," then the inverse would be "1-0 into 2-3," not 1-3! Cmon, you're a maths teacher, you should know this.

Adrian, please never say "sussy" again.

Okay, I stand corrected. It was, in fact, 1-3. RIP.

I'm pretty sure I did kill an opponent on their attack step once with Skyrider, yeah. I think I was winning the next turn anyway, though, and I have no clip.

Oh I absolutely believe it took a bunch of work to make it not absolutely horrid, Adrian. Like I said, they almost went together! (But also, that definitely sounded like a threat. "It could've been far worse. Would be a shame if I didn't put the work in next time.")

  5. Potw; take the land. Typically I aggressively take lands that are in either of my main two colours, and Tear Asunder + Domain effects really want to be in core B/G. I think picking any red cards here (especially red aggro) would be a missed opportunity

  6. Don't play 41 cards ever, especially when you're on mono 5-drops and just 17 lands (that's equivalent to playing 16.6 lands in a 40-card deck). In fact, if you're going to meme and play infinite 5-drops, at least play enough lands so you can actually cast your spells. Looking at the deck, besides the infinite expensive cards, even 2x Strength of the Coaliation and the Branchrider can be played as 4-drops, so there's really no reason not to play 18 lands. (And if that seems like too many, play Goblin Picker or Viashino Prodigy over something else, as card selection.)
