Outriders is a game I previously covered on the ____ is DEAD series and has recently received an update. The New Horizon update does make some good endgame changes but does it actually make the game worth playing all the way through to get there? Let’s chat about it.

When you said you're going to make a new character I cringed so hard. God that campaign is a slog.
Never played outriders and from what i hear from you, i probably never will
Why is it good ? Good question that I don't have the answers to.
I played this kind of game, I think, it was the division 2 (I think it's kinda similar…)
But once "the story" is done, yeah, it's just stupid grinding again and again, I stopped playing long ago…
Got it for 10 bucks through gamefly and Def enjoying it now since it runs better
i used to play destiny 2 like it was a job, so i can kinda understand people burning however many hours in this game
but at the same time it's like, you can just go buy destiny 2 or the division 2, or borderlands 3 or warframe or any number of better games
maybe they just really love third-person cover-based shooters? maybe they grew up with gears of war

This review of Outriders is like if my own opinion jumped out of my head, morphed into a man and made a video. 100% agree with everything. Tried Horizon, without going too deep, all they did was remove the timers lol
What I liked about the story is how unconventional it was. It’s like the Odyssey. Moloch isn’t the primary antagonist because your mission isn’t to fight the war, it’s to find the signal. It isn’t as if Polyphemus followed Odysseus all the way home for a climactic battle; the cyclops was just an obstacle to overcome.
In Outriders, the only time your character engages with the world at all is when you need to do something to keep moving toward your ultimate goal. You don’t care about the war, the outcasts, the monsters, the corruption. At least, not unless they’re in your way. You’re Odysseus.
Your proposed alternative, that Moloch is the big bad, sounds like a pretty generic story by comparison. I’m not saying Outriders is the best writing ever, but it’s way more interesting than I was expecting.

HAHAHAHHA, you are indeed a very funny guy!
It's definitely one of (if not the first) update that stepped the game in the right direction. But it was essentially a giant QoL update. All the core stuff that made the game bad, if not, boring are still very present.
