  1. I thought the demo was real meh, the game play is a bit jarring, the fast travel system is meh and the 3rd person is a big turn off, it doesn't feel like it belongs, It felt very Anthem like to me

  2. i honestly don't see outriders being that great for longer than a few months at most. the campaign has this weird identity crisis where it doesn't know weather it wants to be a satirical comedy or a serious gritty game. and although like you said it can be funny to laugh at, even if the writers are self aware, it doesn't stand by itself as something that would keep me coming back. i dont mind the story but i honestly don't care about any of the characters because they are either boring or die too quick for me to care about them.
Considering that there will be no live service elements, the expeditions better be damn good lol. outriders seems like about an on par looter shooter experience that doesn't want to ship unfinished, but i cant help but feel people are going to expect more than what is actually there.
Of course nothing can really be judged until we can play the full game but we have a good idea of what these kinds of games boil down to at this point.

  3. I thought this too but then I logged into Anthem today. The constant and long load screens are still there. Outriders isn’t perfect but it’s better than Anthem.

  4. one thing about the not so open world section, apparently it was designed that way due to group activity, toi make sure that everyone in that party was going the right way and initiate the voting system to start missions

  5. 5:48 This criticism in general falls flat because that's what all shooting combat is. You're behind cover and you expose yourself to take aim and shoot. Ever hide behind cover in an FPS when you need to reload? There you go.

  6. It is missing the only good thing that is great about anthem – the 3D battlefield.
Outrider is only on a single plane.
I would love to see some other games doing the tribes style 3D volumetric spaces.

  7. Looks rather dull. Like a once and done deal. Maybe 4 times to play with each class? Not as promising as many are claiming. Failing live services shouldn’t be a condemnation of the that kind of game as the community and player interactions in Vanilla Destiny was a great deal why the experience was so good. Lack of multiplayer means weapons aren’t evolving meaning gun play will need to be amazing to make up for not changing, good luck with that. Balancing between PvP and PvE was always an excuse from PvE players wanting overpowered ridiculous weapons and PvP players wanted grounded weapons that felt good to shoot and took actual skill to use.

GoW style movement is unneeded as if you put into and upgrade your abilities you are little encouraged not NOT use cover. The cover is there for the enemies not for the player. You are literally a god making all encounters simply waiting on your next kill or leaving weakened enemies so you can use them as health packs if a fight goes sideways, not that it will how easy the demo was.

All in all not holding my breath on this one. Demo left me feeling meh at best especially since the storytelling didn’t change up the mediocrity.

Lowering our expectations so that meeting bare minimums does not a good game make. I hope the devs are hiding a whole lot more ambition than what was in that demo because if not this will be flooding the used market within months of release.

  8. It's definitely a mixed bag for me.
Cut scenes and story is straight trash.
The controls are wonky on console .
It's has a very imprecise feel, which is off putting.
On the other hand the gear system "seems" to be pretty good.
Some of the guns and builds have real potential.
I literally changed my play style several times based on the gear I built up for each class.
So it seems they got some stuff right and other stuff wrong.
The most concerning thing to me is the "wonky feel"..

    So I dunno
