My Thoughts on the Fortress Announcement | Outriders

My Thoughts on the Fortress Announcement | Outriders
Another Dev Thursday, another terrible take on the solution to a ‘broken’ meta by PCF. All jokes aside, let’s discuss and look at the points covered by the studio in their most recent blog post(September 16th) and also cover the patch that fixes all the bugs….. okay wait, one more joke then 😀

  1. I defended PCF and this game for a long, long time, went through all the bugs, glitches, impossible drop rates, at times unplayable multiplayer, but this game has definitely run its course, mostly because of PCF's own inactivity. I had a lot of fun, not sorry for buying it, but looking at it now (I haven't played in a month or two) this was always an unfinished game. Fun, fantastic at times and had loads of potential, but ultimately unfinished.

  2. I couldn't agree more with you these changes make no sense what so-ever, they built this game with a time based endgame and clearly expected the player base to not build the best builds possible, now that they have they are unhappy with how we play the game kinda takes the piss especially to those like myself who paid the £60 for the game. Love your vids are your channel keep up the good work and never stop ranting over what your passionate about.

  3. Well said analogy of one of the ongoing problems with outriders. I played this game since the first day of the demo and they’ve been ruining it ever since the game came out. I don’t understand how can a developer be so out of touch with its gaming community 🤷🏻‍♂️ I mean have you seen the Twitter posts lately 😬 the feedback is atrocious!
I used to really enjoy doing expedition runs for randoms so they can get legos. But with the constant bugs 🐛 and nerfing and dry content there’s so many other games coming out around this time that won’t leave us hanging. Aliens 👽 fire team just came out and already have a DLC! They really dropped the ball on this one

  4. These comments are retarded. Fortress NEEDED a nerf and we’ve yet to see what they are going to do to compensate AP builds. They could buff the skill dmg to basically match what fortress was doing and all will be will

  5. I get where they are coming from and it does seem odd that the best way to beat the game is to run up to the enemy and take them out by reloading your weapons, but this is the game that they spent five years making. I also think it takes the piss to grind the arse out of this game in order to get the DeathShield and then scrap it in order to put Fortress on all of your weapons and have that mod nerfed because you maximise it's capabilities in order to beat a time based challenge.

  6. Their reasoning makes sense only in the campaign. The expedition doesn't work in the same way. Even with removing the timer in the endgame, the mobs swarm you HARD….you have no choice but to clear them quickly.

  7. How to turn Fortress into an armor based mod (like they … lololol…. intended…lololol):

Allow the mod to be passively active only with a high minimum-armor threshold.

    Signed,
Guy who quit playing this game a very very long time ago but thinks FM is the Damn Dude!

  8. I’ve been very positive about this game for the entire ride, but this is the last straw – haven’t played for a week now. I’ve moved on to Alien FTE and have no intention of now returning to Outriders with the moronic decisions the devs are making. It really does feel like the PCF team are looking to dump what’s left of the player base so they can move on.

  9. the problem is inherently twofold timed expeditions making it harder to actually get anything done and 2 anomaly abilities aren't properly scaling to make up for the kind of damage needed from something like fortress which in general boosts overall damage if they modified or changed expeditions in general that would be nice AND to top it off they need to be buffing more and more anomaly driven skills and abilities to make them more attractive.

  10. I firmly believe this game was just a testing grounds for how and what people respond to. And that their plans for the second game will be much better implemented and focus on. That being said, with how badly they fucked up this first game, they may not have a player base to buy their second game😬

  11. So they're effectively going to nerf all Ap builds along w/ the nice cherry on top of kicking tricksters in the taint as well. Most of which have a hard time keeping up w/ typical techno firepower builds as is. So you can bet the next nerf talk will be on them.
Meanwhile there are sooo many legendary sets that were rolled out w/ nonsensical stats or worse completely non-functional or partially non-functional set bonuses. Those combined w/ the speed running dmg over everything end game loop makes only very specific builds shine as is.. & now they want to nerf 70% of those as well as a large amount of fun off meta builds. Why they can't just extended gold timers to allow for more build variety while continuing to rectify stuff that needs very obvious reworks/buffs is beyond me.

  12. Expansions need to come, the game play for outriders is so damn fun. Speed running in general I feel kills game the timer needs to go. I don’t want to sweat with my buds when we are just wrecking things for fun. Give us more hunts, weekly bounties. They say it’s not a live service game but they are treating it like one.

Before they start screwing with mods maybe start making it viable for middle tree builds, and not get pigeon holed into dpm or powers. So can’t believe I’m saying this but they need to look at what destiny, division to fix the game.

  13. Long time no see bud, hope you're well… and, once again I totally agree w/ your takes…
TBH I haven't played Outriders in ages, probably my last session was around the same time I left a comment on one of your great vids…
Incredible how a couple of key design decisions can influence the number of players engaging w/ a game… I've moved on, not because I don't like the game, but because some aspects of the gameplay and time commitment just curbed my enjoyment…
I feel PCF is very stubborn, they keep on patching and changing stuff nobody asked for, is a waste of everyone's time… I hoped for more, alas, it seems the game won't be getting there any time soon (if at all)…
    Cheers mate!!!

  14. Yeah, it all comes down to the timer this game would be so much more fun and these kind of nerfs would not matter that much if they had an untimed mode. This game is so much more fun when you do work with your team and do utilize all of your tools, gun mods and skills not worrying about the timer. I think they just need to have an untimed hoard mode or something and this game would be so much better. So you still have the timed mode for the people who like metas and want to beat their time but also have the option to play builds you otherwise wouldn’t have because of the timer. Also I think it would be sick if they added leaderboards

  15. Well said. Years ago when the Division was released, it took the gaming community by storm. It was rife with bugs, glitches etc, but by and large players enjoyed the game, myself included. Metas were developed and some players spent hundreds of hours perfecting builds, even though the game was pretty bare-boned at that time. Then we got you tubers and content destroyers giving their tuppence worth saying this should be nerfed and that was OP, etc – one of the worst was a fellow Aussie, and shame on him forever. And those fuckers at Massively Incompetent/Ubisux took their advice and destroyed all those builds that people had spent many, many hours putting together. This had an added benefit for the developers, who realised they didn't have to give players new content, all they had to do was introduce a few crucial nerfs. and bingo, you had a "new" game. Egged on by content destroyers and a shameless State of the Game show, where Hamish said Massive were going to take on board players concerns and that henceforth they would be "Open and Transparent" – sick joke if ever there was one, like sheep, most players followed on and swallowed this drivel, me included. Very slowly things did get better, but the "nerf weapon" was always close at hand and often used. We come to today, and those fuckers at PCF are using exactly the same tactic – this is probably what was said at a board meeting: "We'll tell everybody we're going to be Open and Transparent, we'll string them along by promising new content, and see how long we can do that for, we'll have weekly Updates and tell everyone how well things are going and how everything's on track, and just as all this hogwash is beginning to wear a bit thin, we'll introduce some awesome nerfs, which will fuck up everybody's builds and game. For those few players who have stuck with us, it will be like playing a new game – so you see we don't have to give anybody any new content, all we need to do is just introduce a few nerfs here and there. And by the way, we've found a really good communications manager. He's a narcissist of the first order and a pathological liar without peer. Anybody who is enjoying our game will need to be drawn out as to why, and once the reason has been identified, nerfs will need to be implemented pronto." Meeting ended to huge applause and uncontrollable guffawing. As for me, I'm playing Skyrim and Witcher 3 again, and having a blast, and looking forward to three games on the horizon – Bleak Faith: Forsaken, The Day Before, and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. I hope you give them the once over when they drop. Meanwhile, stick with the beer and biltong, and life will always be good. Cheers, Harry.
