This could be PCF way to figure out what people actually want. IE they put these builds out to see if people actually think they are viable or fun so that in the future when they do create new mods they make better ones that more people want. IDK. These builds are clearly meant for lower CT's or simple put Just for fun. The issue is they are just too weak. As in the Mods themselves are just too weak. IF these Mods they used where buffed up substantially i could see these builds actually working out. But in the current state i feel they are just to weak..

It's as if they did these on paper based off the most underused skills.

Do builds for mid game through end game. This is unplayable multi player for me on Xbox. So can't put them to use in a group but solo they aren't really effective, at all.
I really agree with what you said since their shtick was that they value our time & they have shown that for the most part. It seems PCF enjoys playing much differently than many of us Die Hards.
I was struggling to get past CT 10 solo… then i switched to the burst AR and my damage tripled. It was a breeze to CT 15 after that. This seems like something that should've been hotfixed months ago, but here we are.
Being someone having 350+ hrs in outriders, I saw these on their twitter page and instantly dismissed them without even checking the build out. I knew, without looking it was gunna be fluff builds showcasing the game at low tier lol. The thought that didnt cross my mind was the point you brought up about new players, seeing this and getting invested in them just to find out that there are much better builds that can do endgame content. Ffs, these are labeled Ultimate Team Builds, very misleading. Yes the production and presentation is very pretty but, why? Unless this is going somewhere, and PCF are gunna showcase a new class or mods, wouldnt it be better if they get back to work on the DLC?
I think those builds we are shown are variants that work well IN the new no timer environment, which I guess is key. Imagine after timers have been removed and they show us the very same staple builds that have been meta during timed expeditions, people would probably call out lack of creativity for copying old meta without inciting to try something different OR people who return to the game after New Horizon would feel like nothing has changed and they are still forced to play the same meta builds as before, even more so if PCF or SE advise it. Sure those builds aren't minmaxed to peak offensive performance but I think they weren't meant to. Calling it Ultimate does those builds dirty tho
I agree that this is probably just a mechanism for showing off build diversity and increasing interest among the newer, general fan base. They might have showed off popular mods like Fortress and Moaning Winds as a message to the hard-core fan base that the meta is reestablished.
I don’t think the game designers that created timers are the type of folk of give away the most dominant builds in a promo.
Whether for newer players or hardcore players, the videos increase interest in sharing. For me, these videos only underscore the need for a better build sharing system. Like, help us make the single-screen, full character print outs that they showed off in the video. Also, loadouts! I know we just got a massive update but we need updates to build management before sharing really takes off amongst the general public.
I’m not overthinking this. It’s just typical marketing fluff—shiny and flashy the way a film ad makes even the worst film look good—and has nothing to do with the typical hardcore player. I don’t think it says anything about their plans for the game other than “Hey, here’s this cool game. Go get it.”

Hello, hey man love your channel and your content. I feel like you might be a bit too hard on the builds. Personally, I had no good luck with DEV, never got any Seismic, Marshal or Statue just cannonball and Deathproof. Until that PCF was posted I have up on Devastator! no joke and I said that in my video on the infinite reaper build review. The build did work as is in CT15 it was slow, but I didn't die once! then I made a few minor adjustments for my own taste and now it's my only way to play Dev. plus they leave the set as is, they make a semi budget build with these builds, so once you get better mods you can upgrade. look at their image of the build on like 1 or 2 mods on the entire armor set have been adjusted. They said they did make a Pyro build and it's on YT already, "the Flame Witch" or "Fire witch" something like that. But in all honesty, it is because of their build I was able to farm CT 15 for other gear without being carried, you should really play them and try it out.
Since the removal of timers I can finally play expeditions without rushing through them. I don't mind what PCF did here with these builds to make build diversity viable. At least they are trying say "Hey timers are gone take your time and enjoy the game".
I appreciated PCF showing them. It gave a great amount of insight into what I've suspected for a while and something that is often indemic to today's game developers. They are fundamentally lacking insight into the very games they have coded. Those builds were rip/copy/paste from what the community came up with. They lack the insight or the imagination to show us anything different. Worse, is that it highlights the issues with the game in that they have in practical terms dictated the necessity of those builds. Having removed the timers allowed for a bit more freedom as less optimal builds have a chance now. That they've made a system with so few optimal paths is the issue. They have a lot of balance work that still needs doing, but I for one am skeptical as to whether they have the technical skills or the creativity to do so.

New update is great for making your own builds… you legit can make anything you want and how you want to play it as well. Lol even with most builds on the discord and other outrider discord’s are better but you can even alter those builds to your own liking. Again great video! Well presented but their builds suck
why is it that youtubers all have to have a video intro and a outro instead of saying today were gonna discuss this, than discuss it. I dont get the reasoning, ive never watched a video because an intro our outro, i watch solely on the title and what the video is about
I wasn’t expecting them to be the best builds honestly. I think PCF it wanted to give us an idea of possible builds beyond the Meta, especially now that timers are gone. Builds still need to get you through the expedition, and I suppose arguably not all builds are meant to be taken into expeditions. One can have Meme build for instance lol.
My biggest problem with this is they are trying to highlight underused playstyles but people have defended them as budget. I main devestator so just looking on there a Deathshield with moaning winds and a Thunderbird with Shadow Comet are not budget, let alone getting the actual armor set. These two builds have just highlighted that every class (except Pyro) has a very weak mid-tree that should probably be reworked instead of PCF making trailers for them on Twitter.
People already think Dev has struggle putting out damage and showing off a boulder dash/endless mass hybrid isn't doing the class any favors. Especially when, when used properly, endless mass has great utility in team play to line up muti-hits, and boulder dash is fantastic. I have stopped using despair gravity leaps in favor of boulder dash since I learned to use it for my solo CT15 farming sessions.
TL:dr: If PCF doesn't want to showcase meta stuff they are better off making true budget builds instead of misleading people into underpowered builds.
I dont know, i think they took mods that they think would work well together and basically theory crafted it into a build, not something i would use as its not very functional. That said i also HAD to run a devastator without any legendary gear and it worked out pretty well, i had around 237k armor, 121k firepower, 128k anomaly and 26.1k health.. without any buffs applied, skill tree was very much invested into all 3 skill trees "hybrid" it carried me till i finally found seizmic gear.
I'm pretty sure PCF made these builds for marketing reasons. They don't want the players to blast through their content as fast as possible with little difficulty. What they go for is a challenging experience where the players would feel like they're on the bleeding edge all the time. And whats more fun? Blasting through hordes like glowing hot sledge hammer through melted butter, or that epic fight where your eyes tear up because you can't blink, and then you barely win in a spectacular way? With the removal of the timers, this is probably a massive improvement to the experience. I still want an effective build though.
You mentioned people not having the time to dump hours into the game to get all the loot necessary for these builds and I am one of those people. Which brings me to my point: Do you also find it irritating that, after they doubled the drop rates before and the vast majority of the community expressing their satisfaction with the way it was, they have now turned around and NERFED not only the amount of bonus loot we get but also the drop rates? And to add insult to injury they even exponentially increased the price of pods needed to run the paid expeditions, so much so that by the time you finish (and that’s IF you finish) your net profit of pods is even less than what you would get from a free one. So now I find myself shying away from all the paid ones because it’s just not time efficient for me and I’m sure many other players in my same situation. Pre-Patch I was always getting at least 2 legos per run, sometimes even 5 if I was lucky. Now I never get more than 2, and the majority of time 1 or even none (happened back to back today in fact).
New Horizon was a big step in the right direction for the future of this game, but they took an even BIGGER step backward with the changes to end game loot. I understand that the changes to Tiago are supposed to help balance that out, but it made the grind even more time consuming for people like me.
