I’m done with my most recent trickster build you’ve seen in previous videos and here’s why:
Hunt the Prey is irredeemably broken in this game. When any lag is present, especially when you’re the guest player, the skill randomly locks up refusing to target an enemy but leaving you in the skill activation mode where you cannot shoot…you cannot use other skills…you can’t even melee…just take damage (of course) and die.
Now I already knew this bug going into that build but hoped so much the devs fixed a literal game breaking bug for EVERY trickster who uses that skill (and it’s one of their best skills too) when we are now 2 years after release and when in a Reddit thread a YEAR AGO their dev said they planned to address it then in a later update they claimed they already did.
Nope: still broken. And upon testing I only found one “solution” to this. Go into your inventory menu and swap out a piece of armor. It resets all your skill cool downs and this finally takes away that bug.
Problem? Doing all that mid combat takes a ton of time and trickster are always in the thick of it too. I tried maxing my chances. My trickster already has close to max armor and health and resistance on his build you’ll note: perfect for surviving a longer period to recover from crap moments like that. I also took off two of his mods that offered the least damage and frankly I already thought needed replacing (personal space for sure when his damage is not really from twisted rounds) for Even Odds and Emergency Stance for maximum survivability not tied to any shooting or leech you obviously won’t get to utilize halting and going into your menu mid combat.
Doing all this ended up with my sometimes living to recover from that bug but still not always and too inconsistently.
So I’m through with it. I’ll keep the build in my pocket if the devs EVER fix hunt the prey.
But I’m glad I did that build because it was more learning. And I learned Unforseen Force in the top tree boosts ALL your damage from behind not just your gun damage.
So I tweaked my old trickster build yet again getting rid of the less damage from elites skill node I never could tell honestly worked or not (but having max armor, resistance and health always makes the biggest difference) and I grabbed one of those two nodes.
I would have loved to grab the second one and second movement skill cool down to max my aggressive teleportation damage but sadly there’s no way to get those without sacrifice half my middle tree which would defeat the purpose and end in a build hardly different anyway. I’d gain more damage for sure but drop significant health and resistance so the lower cooldown on borrowed time wouldn’t actually compensate enough.
But I can still grab 1 and I did because I realized my old trickster build still damages enemies from behind routinely thanks to all the slow effects I put on them to keep flanking plus ironically phantom dash finally plays a key role dodging through enemies to activate moaning winds or aggressive teleportation for instance. Then in groups when the attention isn’t solely on me it’s even easier to proc that bonus damage.
So you see here? I can now clear frontline just as fast as my new FP build anyway lol. So if anything doing that build taught me the superiority of my old highly tweaked build yet again: it does just as much damage, is just as tanky, yet offers some utility as well so frankly it’s STILL a better build.

What did you change in your build ?
I noticed that too about hunt the prey, which is why I barely do expos with a team anymore. I knew I wasn’t going crazy. There’s also a bug that makes you invisible after using the skill too.
