Outriders Impressions – 10 hours of Demo

Might also dive into how things work mechanically and what builds I see being good out the gate.

  1. Pro tip, the melee attack is really strong, especially the running variant as sprinting will turn it into an AoE, with good damage and class based effects like burn or slow.

  2. nope its fucking shit
and if we buy shitty games, they will try and sell us more shitty games at full price.
    it is generic,bullet spongey,and boring.
typical epic garbage…a b+ titlt for aaa price.
    not 30$ not 40 $ 70 $ + tax…thats a nty
    typical effort for a porthouse.
you say you like it after 40 hours…ill think less of your opinions…

  3. Besides the horribly mediocre story, i was kind of interested in the game until i tried it, the game was fun but the performance is ASS, my rig is aging (GTX 1070, Ryzen 5 2600) BUT apparently the recommended specs for the game to run @ 1080p/60fps is a measly 1660 and a Ryzen 5 1600, yet the game's framerate just TANKS below 50 in most firefights.

idunno if they fixed it, but outright lying like that made all my excitement for a new looter shooter to go down to 0ñ.

  4. The mod system seems very promising for me, the amount of customization you'll have with armor and weapons sounds awesome when making builds

As long as the endgame doesn't get boring quickly, I'm looking forward to playing this a lot when it comes out fully

  5. It's worth noting that the Pyromancer's melee will mark enemies for the purposes of its heal. Makes early Pyromancer a little more survivable than if you just keep waiting for skill cooldowns.

  6. Gameplay is fine, Im enjoying it overall, but story is sooooooo meh so far. Just generic "humans cant find a sense of community and so turn on each other in the literal WORST way possible" sci-fi story we've seen a million times. Plus the game feels so excessive in its cussing and brutality that its borderline humorous. Takes me out of the game a bit honestly.

  7. Ok. So.. whatever bias I may have aside.. I have MANY criticisms.

I would go through them all but you guys have no doubt heard every single one. However.. I am gonna say one I know people have not heard yet.

That skill tree menu was hardcore ripped out of a mobile game from a couple years ago. Shameless.

  8. at 3:50 where u talk about pyromancer. You can use his melee attack to set enemies on fire it has a 2s cooldown before u can use it but so long as there an enemy u can get hp from his melee into a kill or if they are low enough hp u can melee kill them to death.

  9. I don't know. I tried the demo. The abilities are good. The gunplay isn't bad but isn't really good either. Serviceable at best. The mods on gear are definitely cool too. But there are a lot of things that drag it down.

It being a shooter with a cover system seems questionable. The devs seem to imply that you shouldn't use it much, so why have it? I've seen people argue that it's for the enemies, but that doesn't make any sense. The player does not need a cover system so that enemies can use cover. Plenty of shooters in this genre have enemies that take cover even if the game doesn't have a cover system for the player. And even though they tell you that cover isn't something you should be using much, it can feel like you should because enemies beam you constantly while not in cover. Feels like it should just have a crouch and jump button instead of a cover system.

As neat as the skill tree looks at first glance, looking at it closer shows it's kinda shallow. Most skill nodes are just basic % damage increase or survivability in some way, even the big ones. Just numbers. A few do interesting things but most don't. Thankfully the mods on gear provide more interesting alterations to abilities, but you'd think skill trees would do more of that than they currently do. Also I don't feel like 20 points is enough. It takes 13 to get to the end of a tree. Then you'll probably want most if not all of the big nodes near the path you chose, which will cost up to another 7 meaning you really don't get to go down other trees much.

Also I doubt the game's longevity. Many are excited that it's not a games as a service, and while that is good in certain ways, it also means that the game won't be getting content updates to keep it going. Which means it's kind of like Diablo in that sense. The problem is, even Diablo has greater rifts that have a shit ton of scaling to keep you playing and seasons to keep you coming back. This doesn't have any of that. It just has some endgame missions with rewards based on how fast you complete them. Which makes me feel like the game is going to come out, people are going to get through the story faster than the devs expect, and then sink like 20 hours into the endgame and be done. Which isn't necessarily bad. Some people will be fine with that. But it's clear some are expecting this to replace other games that they've sunk hundreds or thousands of hours into, which it likely won't. At least not for long.

  10. I really really wanted to like this game. The devs seem to give a crap, no loot boxes or shady live service forever stuff, focus is on the gameplay and the gear, not cosmetic BS in its place….but I can't get over how bad the game runs and plays, it's a late PS3 or early PS4 era game at best…how is your cover system worse than 10 year old Gears of War games, how is your gunplay on the same level as an Uncharted game (that might be an insult to Uncharted actually, theirs is smoother and the guns feel better to use)…everything feels slightly off and janky in every aspect, if this was a 20 dollar indie title, maybe, but a full priced game released by a major studio…I dont think it's up to today's technical standards…

  11. This game would be good – if they could only fix the crash on exiting an inventory/skill menu problem in more than a week.

Not hopeful for this, and I'm not hopeful for how the devs are already bungling major tech issues with a demo.

  12. personally found trickster and devestator most fun. what you going to focus on most after my playthrew is level up world rank so you have garanteed epic and legendary drops. and gets more melee and dodge focused the higher the world tier. where tier one is story for just clearign the game story, but basic rewards. where the proper looter run start at world tier 8+ what is farm runs and better chance at higher world tier also world tier increase the equipment level cap you can equip that means equipemnt can have higher level then your character once you unlock the higher world tiers. and all rare and higher equipment mods can be in finally game be used to craft your own equipment and mods effects will not stack in this game so you will be forced to slot diffrent mods to gain most benefit from them, thsi game will be more consuming on world tier grind then character exp. also your
can replay the story for farming equipment and world tier. also their is a melee attack for special combat effect that changens depending on yoru class!

  13. I had fun with the demo, I might end up picking it up. Weird to see alot of people nitpick everything like hell but I know alot of people in the comments play warframe with all its flaws and say they wont try this game out. Kinda strange.

  14. Note also they use a World Tier system like The Division so as you move through the tiers the enemies scale up. I was surprised how much harder electroboy was to kill at tier 4 from 3 but it's not bad design.

  16. All I can say is for yall who want the shaky cams removed first, tough luck yall don't know how filming works thats not something that can be done at this point. Does it suck yes, does it define the whole game no. Sorry just saw some people do reviews were they basically called the devs failures just off the shaky cams.
