I did end up writing my thoughts down on Outriders! https://www.escapistmagazine.com/v2/outriders-is-finally-a-looter-shooter-that-doesnt-waste-my-time/
We are having In person events. Hello the rangers had 100% capacity for their Last home game
Great to see Parris on the show again, he’s a fantastic speaker and brings a real positive energy to the conversation!
Please make it Nick, Jack, and Parris every week
When I saw the title of this video my first thought was “wait what Jack played a looter shooter, has hell frozen over?” Then I saw it was Paris and got excited. As much as I enjoy the back and forth between Nick and Jack, Paris and Nick are both shooter players so the conversation was very substantial about the nuts and bolts of outriders which I found interesting.
When it comes to E3 honestly now that live streams/direct streams are a thing I could care less about it. I used to watch the live coverage on xplay on G4TV when that was a thing and while the first couple of years were interesting to watch it’s became super corporate and honestly kind of misleading to with some of the trailers and “gameplay” promises. I rather watch the streams of the specific companies I’m interested in. That being said I am excited for another indie showcase type thing because that showed me a lot of games that were flying under my radar.
Here's my comment for the algorythm. Thanks for another great upload, and thanks for co-hosting, Parris!
I’m a sucker for 3rd person shooters, looter shooters, and pve co op. Pc stuttering is awful but the gameplay is amazing. Division and remnant vibes are good
Quick request as I’m really enjoying the show, but is there anyway you can take the background music off? Idk, maybe I’m just old.
Outriders? You mean bootleg destiny?
Definitely outdated and clunky i found myself constantly comparing it to the divison with every move the hub area, the linear map design, the assigned powers/gadgets, always swapping upgrading to better loot even the cover to cover mechanics are the same it would have to go free to play for me to wanna play it or get a bigger following
Great to hear from Parriss again. On a consumer end, I'm gonna miss E3. It feels so great having an event like that too look forward to every year. But I understand it's not ideal on the publisher/media end. Maybe in the end it is enough to schedule all these solo presentations closer to each other
It's fun when it decides to work. 😅
My response to the title. No, it isn't. It's a bug ridden mess that needed another 6 months or more in the oven or for the developers to call it what it is, early access.
I just love seeing parris in stuff
Parris always spot on
So Jack doesn't care, huh… It's about a game with a good story then? Or Halo? ^^
30:20 Isn't travelling to LA to stand in line for five hours to do one thing basically Disneyland?
If you want outriders on pc you should wait for a while.
The game is seriously janky right now.
Don't buy this dumpster fire. I wish I could refund it.
I know we can't get Parris but get more guests like him! Love hearing different perspectives
Unless you’re Jim sterling who couldn’t play the game.
I have never heard this guys commentary but I love him! Please try to steal his time for the escapist!
I imagine Jack is still in this video chat, quietly petting Cookie and not caring about the topic.
Another great episode of the Escapist Show, and it was fantastic seeing Parris again! Keep up the great work!
Oh, Jack is now Black (badum tss)
I completely disagree with the "small games would be better off without E3 because they won't be lost with the bigger games." People (typically) don't go out of their way to look for games they've never heard of, but they DO watch big events like E3. Atleast with E3, there will be plenty of people who are the exact target audience of the game, who would have never heard of it otherwise. I think it's more important to get people to hear about the game at all, even if it means it might be overshadowed for some, than have no one hear about it because the studio can't afford to market it themselves.
Having only seen the footage youve shown, the main problem with outriders map is no colour, its really grey and nothing jumps out at you. If they could colour each area differently / make fast travel points obvious, there wouldnt be so much of a problem.
My friends raved about Outriders except the ending. I'd play with them if I had any kind of skill with shooters.
The last time I legitimately loved watching an E3 anything was when the Resident Evil 2 remake was announced, or when Bethesda showcased Fallout 4 and Doom (2016) in one event. And of course, anything by Devolver Digital showcasing why the whole thing is literally a giant waste of time and money. It was fun when I was younger…now? I just want the deets and move on.
There's been too many cringe-meme generation moments at these events that obviously game development is still getting negatively impacted by this. All because certain game studios (COUGHUBISOFT) just only want to showcase spectacle instead of actually well made products worth your hard earned cash. And worse, I'm so fucking sick of when Sports and pretty-car-graphics have to take center stage instead of something that IS actually worth showcasing.
to me E3 is a lot like gamestop yeah at one point they made sense and were on top and it was great for them but things changed and they were warned plenty that if they didn't update they would be left behind and now that is kind of happening when someone is warned what could happen to them but they don't listen it is kind of hard for me to feel bad for them
It's actually kind of shocking how many of the Escapist personalities have come into the public view and gained popularity in the giant shadow that is ZP. Jack, especially. When he started his inaugural show, it didn't really scratch a particular itch for me. But I really like him when he's paired up with Yahtzee and Nick to add a counterbalance and some back and forth. And now it would feel kinda weird if he were to go the way of Bob or Jim. I mean, I do miss having Bob around on he website. But he never seemed as integral to the production of so much content outside of the monolith that is ZP.
I guess what I'm saying is that I'm really glad that the Escapist made the changes it needed to in order to be a platform, as opposed to just the paycheck that Yahtzee drew every month.
Parris is such a calm and nice speaker, loved the episode!
Everytime I hear about engaging 30 second gameplay loops I remember Errant Signal's Rage 2 video. Dopamine gets you hooked.
I wish the game was even half decent.
