Outriders is BEYOND Generic

Outriders has a generic story, generic gameplay, and generic mechanics. I really wanted to like this game but there was very little that I enjoyed of it’s recent demo. Outriders is the definition of generic.

  1. I’ve seen a surprising amount of people trying to tell me Outriders isn’t a cover based shooter. Anybody who says this isn’t a cover based shooter is delusional. They’ve designed the game for players to take cover with a magnetic cover system. Every single game out there including first person shooters the enemy hides behind cover. Not every single game allows the player to also take cover. By outriders allowing it and literally designing its mechanic, it is by definition a cover based shooter. Trying to deny that, is denying reality. The game suffers from a major identity crisis if it creates cover based mechanics and then tells everyone not to use them. That’s like making a double jump for a game that doesn’t even need a single jump button.

If you need any more reason why this game is is beyond generic, here’s another great video I recommend from Under The Mayo https://youtu.be/042_-H5gecc

  2. If I remember right when destiny 2 came out that was generic boring pretty much everything you say about outriders wich is just a demo . it's taken bungie a long time to sort destiny and outriders isn't even out yet . I bet you and every other youtuber will still cover this game to death.

  3. You know this is a demo right ? I will say it’s not perfect but when was the last time you saw a dev team drop a demo that carries over your progress , then proceed to update that demo whilst being transparent with their plans for the game itself ? Stuff like clunky movement , camera angles , bad AI etc etc. can be fixed and improved upon . Bad business models can’t ! Mark my words this won’t be the same game at launch 🤟🏼

  5. Yeah like most games the story is generic. But… I played the shit out of the demo until a few days ago when I read about the disappearing gear bug etc. I’m bored out of my mind finishing old games until this drops.

I have a ton of free points on my Xbox so it’s free to play for me. lol. I would like to wait for a sale as well but I need a new game badly. 😳

  7. I’d say it’s at a medium hype level, you have your worries and your excitement and all you can do is wait for it to release, but for me I really like it and I’m hoping it comes out the way I see it will be.

  8. Anybody who thinks this is a "destiny killer" doesnt deserve a rebuttal. Theyre just ignorant and dont understand how mmo style games work

Edit: i think youre missing the point of cover in outriders. Its for enemys. Not the player. Even the trailer says "cover is for cowards". It doesnt need to be that great since you arent meant to use it.

Edit 2: we have seen endgame weapons. Legendarys drop in the demo. It really feels like you did no research outside of your demo playthrough.

  9. Why tf is everyone comparing this game to destiny knowing that ofc it couldn't surpass the following destiny has simply because destiny has been around for fucking years

  10. I agree with a lot of your points, but the truth is, this game was never aimed to be “unique.” It took aspects that people liked from other games and smashed them all together. And about the cover system, I’ll say something I saw on Reddit. “The game is okay, until you realize something. The cover isn’t for you. It’s for your enemies.”

  11. I don’t think I would call this game over hyped. I haven’t heard anyone hyping this game up at all. Seems to me like it came out of nowhere and in my opinion is pretty fun. The build diversity in outriders shits on every other looter shooter besides borderlands, and their willingness to go crazy with how gear effects your playstyle is a nice change of pace after playing d2 where gear has relatively small impact on how you play.

  12. You play a demo that literally has parts missing from it like the entire crafting system for example and you call it generic? That's like reading the first chapter of lord of the rings and then saying the whole book is boring and unimaginative. Srry I disagree with you. As for this game being a Destiny killer who knows. I know I'm personally tired of Destiny to the point I'm willing to accept anthem as it's replacement so I could care less.😂

  13. You sound like someone who plays loot games for something other than loot. Outriders loot makes destiny loot look pathetic lmao … and that’s at level 7 …. destiny is held up COMPLETELY by its gunplay… but looters are about loot… you clearly are off the mark.. which is fine too

  14. This is a fair opinion, and I’m not trying to tear down, but I am curious. I always hear people talk about how they don’t like the feedback. That guns feel weak. I just… I don’t fully understand? They do damage, they have a decent “thud” to the shots, and decent recoil. As a genuine question, what do you think the devs could do? On consol, I hate when the controller shakes with every shot, but I don’t know what else they could do without making the game far too easy.

And, as many others have said, the game probably isn’t for everything. I have really liked the demo personally, and I’m excited for the game! The story is a bit generic, but honestly? As far as I’ve seen, just about every game out right now has a generic story. Most shooters just do, especially multiplayer stories. I’m interested in the story, which is more than I can say about a lot of games I’ve tried. I dunno. What are some idea to improve it? I think it’s good, and of course it has flaws, but I’m excited, and I am sure that if we talk about it enough, the devs might put it in the full game! This is just a demo!

  15. This review is generic and ganky. THIS IS NOT A COVER BASED SHOOTER THE DEVS STATED "COVER IS FOR COWARDS" most of the statement made is this are lazy and offer little to no constructive criticism.

  16. The game has great combat imo the skills feel good to use and the weapons are fine. The story is eh, the cutscenes are atrocious and the level design in the demo is OK. That all said I will be picking this up because the combat is addicting and the looting experience is great. It feels like a solid AA project and it's a complete experience from launch. No microtransactions and no live service BS. I will support these devs because of their willingness to forgo the money grabbing triple a industry crap

  17. I think the cover system isn't for us, its for the enemies. Use a couple legandaries weapons and use your abilities with good mods and absolutely destroy entries rooms in seconds and absolutely bake bosses.

  18. I only like outriders because it's a blast to play. I know it's generic as they come but I pre-ordered and I rarely pre-order games. I was just having way too much fun in the demo so decided this game would be worth it for me. I couldn't care less if it's a "destiny killer" which I don't really think it is the only aspect they share is that they are looter shooters
