i think matchmaking is a necessity.
if you want to avoid a downward spiral. if your friends dont want to play the game you cant play it either. so people drop off. if they drop off their friends in return cant play so more people drop off. and then = ded gaem.
i think outriders is a game where matchmaking could work pretty good. the stages have hand crafted encounters and are fairly linear. people cant branch off too much and have to res you if they want to succeed. contrary to avengers for example. and it works good in tandem with the single player focus. this way you can enjoy the game on your own and jump into an activity with randoms if you need to farm harder stages. and it doesnt PREVENT teaming up with friends
I don’t agree with you Brian. For those of us who don’t have online friends it’s pretty hard to find players to play with.

Are we really questioning this in 2021!!! This is part of the problem. I made a post on Bungie forum awhile ago about why matchmaking needs to be in everything and it got nothing but hate. Yet when I'm asking for reason for why it shouldn't be there nobody could give me a valid reason for how a group matchmaking ruins the game for somebody who doesn't want to matchmake. First off if you have ppl to play with then why are you matchmaking anyway? Of course I would do that. And yeah it can be a challenge when paired with random ppl but thats why games have vote to kick and chat. Its really frustrating to hear this cuz even tho I do enjoy Destiny I gave it up because it just doesn't fit my life because of that one thing. I usually work 2 jobs but that doesn't stop me from gaming. The only time i really have to play games is after midnight. So now I need 6 ppl I know to stay up past midnight or worst struggle trying to manually go through LFG just to do the EXACT SAME THING matchmaking does only slower cuz at the end of the day they still randoms. Then when somebody quits because of whatever you spend 30 mins trying to find a replacement and during that time more ppl leave. I mean it just so frustrating I just gave up all hope on that game.
well not everyone is as lucky as you with many friends to play with. I am not buying this game because it lacks a proper matchmaking system. The Division's matchmaking system is good.
Games need matchmaking. Game devs need to learn from other game devs of same genre mistakes. Speaking of transparency are you guys being paid to promote and excite people about this game?
If you was to look at my friends list you think I have alot, be i only run with a couple of them. And naturally there not always available. So matchmaking is is a must I believe. And yes they so need in game chat and a ping system.
I played WoW before and after Matchmaking – I had a much better experience afterwards. I would never have made it to max level in FFXIV without Matchmaking.

why would you not want matchmaking especially during a pandemic where via internet is nearly the only way to play with friends and even then your friends may not play the same games I don't think you thought this through enough before saying this I strongly disagree with you
Diablo 3 seems to have a pretty good matchmaking system. Plus a teleport to each other to so you can jump into the action. Hopefully its something like that.
Your right. I always bitch about the idiots on my match made team, BUT I’d rather have those idiots than nobody. Just don’t use it if you don’t want to. Simple as that. Forced matchmaking I can see, but optional hurts no one.

Destiny was utter shit due to a lack of matchmaking for me. Having to go outside of the game to find a party(for raids) was ridiculous. If Outriders doesn't have matchmaking for end-game activities I'll just not buy it. I won't repeat Destiny again ever.

There is a ping system fyi. Maybe not as good as Apex but you can mark an enemy, boss, loot chest etc. As for cover, unless you’re playing as pyro and solo you shouldn’t need to use cover much. Maybe the other skills for pyro will help with survivability, it is to be seen. Not sure if you mention this but what I would like to see is a way to lock gear.
I don't think matchmaking is bad if you enter into it with the right attitude and expectations. Some games all matchmaking is a speed run (if u die ur on ur own), some ppl never do the objectives, etc. I've made a lot of friends matchmaking in different games.
It’s easy to find like minded people to play with on discord, at the worst, you just plug up some headphones with a mic to your phone, and talk on discord while you wear your console headset at the same time, if you don’t have a pc with required specs that is, if you do have a decent pc, then just simply use discord while you play.

I think matchmaking is a good idea. It's not like the other people can steal your loot. Sure they can sabotage you by intentionally causing you to fail but that's in any game with people in it.
No point to have matchmaking, majority of the team will kick you out if you join
Matchmaking is a good features if no kick out features being added into games, just for those peoples who like to just play with friends, please set your public game to friends only, is no good if you put open to everyone but kick out everyone who matchmaking and join you. What a dumb players
