Outriders: I've Beaten The Demo Five Times, My Final Review

At this point I have extracted everything I can out of the Outriders demo other than nine more legendaries it will take 300 hours to farm. Here are my final thoughts on everything we’ve gotten to experience so far.

  1. As a Diablo 2 vet, This game is Scratching All the Looter Shooter itches for me. I Love it.

I enjoy the grind (so Far), the Loot is fun and matters.
Leveling is good. I appreciate being able to replay the campaign at a higher difficulty to get better loot. (Why would you lock off the campaign forever after completion AVENGERS)

And I actually Like the Story. Gives me Battlestar Galactica vibes with the sci fi space stuff but also mad max vibes with the enemy faction being so post apocalyptic but ALSO Bleach vibes with Top tier Powers of "Lord Seth" and lower tier abilities for the captains

  2. I'm currently only doing a pyromancer and it's definitely weird one. I agree that you can't just spam the skills. Really got a plan them out and out yourself in the right position to get the most benefit out of it

  3. Yea I played Pyro first and I haven't really liked the game. Guess I'll start another and try again. I'm not big on 3rd person shooters anyway so it had that going against it from the beginning. But I'll give it another shot with another character. But I don't know the gunplay and movement isn't the best and that's what's kept me playing Destiny as a hardcore for over 7 years. The story isn't great either and it needs 1 or the other to keep me playing. Loot can also do that but so far that also hasn't blown me away but it's WAY to early in the game to make a decision on loot I think, it'd be like trying to make a decision on Destiny loot after only playing a 3rd of the story and a couple strikes lol.

  4. Very pleasant surprise, this demo. In the wake of Anthem NEXT getting the axe I’m very happy to replace with Outriders. Thanks for your viewpoints, Paul – liked and subscribed.

  5. I don't hope for DLC's, I hope downright for an expansion in the scope of lord of destruction of diablo2. Such an expansion is what I believe, the best that can happen to a game like Outriders. And randomized endgame content, but I am aware that randomization is a very difficult thing to do, especially in a game where you are nose to wall close to textures and limited computational resources which is not such a big deal in a game like Path of Exile.

  6. If you go into this wanting Destiny with better loot, you're probably NOT going to be happy. If you go into this wanted Diablo or Path of Exile with 3rd person shooter combat, you're probably going to be VERY happy. This is a game where understanding what it's really trying to do is what makes it click. I've had an absolute blast with the demo… and that's basically without the Skill Tree even doing anything! Can't wait for the full game!

  7. I have a feeling that the gun (and possibly armor) designs are going to be a bit polarizing – I really like the aesthetics of most legendaries I've seen, they're just really… out there? Wacky but not in a Borderlands way. So perhaps for me it's somewhat the novelty factor of seeing guns even weirder than many in Destiny and Warframe.

  8. Outriders struggles in the story department but that isn’t unlike vanilla Destiny when that first released… Which now has a pretty amazing story… Outriders can improve that definitely and build on what they have.

The thing that Outriders absolutely nails is gameplay, also similar to Destiny, gameplay keeps you coming back regardless of how poor the story might be. I grinded out 1000s of hours on Destiny even when the story was pure arse because of how good it felt. Outriders for me could be the 3rd person looter shooter that takes over, much like what people hoped Anthem would do.

  9. I almost dropped the Demo before the solo-prologue was over, because i was bored to death… but i gave it another chance, and played coop with my dude, and yes… this game is able to deliver a ton of fun if you are okay with its simplicity (gears clone with rpg elements & skills). PS: It only shines in coop tho!

  10. I don’t think pyromancer is weak , it just requires a more aggressive ranged play style but it is kinda squishy idk if that was intended but I do feel like I get hit alot harder when I’m the pyromancer

  11. I got to admit, my favorite line in the story is the scene where the PC just gets up after being impaled with a metal pole, pulls it out, and then just gives a confused, kinda "alright, this is happening" ok.

  12. Yeah I’m sorry dude but there is no worlds perfect PC Casey’s hold way too many variables it is far simpler to make a consistent and polished experience on a consul and this came in particular is designed with consuls in mind first or at least controllers in mind first but given it all the inconsistencies of video drivers and all the other bullshit drivers you have to install on a specific manufacturers hardware it’s no wonder that the most consistent gameplay is going to be on the consoles and given the next GEN stuff that’s out you can get you know really just as good I’ll come on a consultGraphically as you can get on a PC you without the issues that go along with the 5000 different variants I’ll hardware that are out there

  13. I disagree I think they all have their strengths and weaknesses and once you learn how to play each class they can be power houses I find a Pyro Manser works well once you get that fourth ability because you can mark everything on a map and you’re getting 25% damage boost almost all the time at the mansion if you want to market first and then cash that ability it usually wanna hear it’s anything you’ve marked so you can play it by romance are pretty much the same way you would play techno the answer as a sniper from the back

  14. Yeah I mean the techno mansard can run in that room the one where the captains right by the door and you can just keep my Gillingham washing out in restarting the app took my room and you can believe that guy in like four or five seconds on me and Jess are you guys even get to get off his ability

  15. You put on that fourth skill for Pyro Manser and you can mark everything on the map I’m in the rain Janet is basically includes everything on the map even on the home do you know the final side mission don’t wanna Scott that big long map of all snipers you can mark everything on the map with one button push and everything shoot at his healing you and it’s not like really slow I am a cool down I mean it comes back fairly fast

    Reply
  16. That’s not even remotely true the Pyro Manser has his first three skills one one is a home a DOT what is the crowd control and the other one isn’t interrupt but if you combo those two you can turn a crowd control and then it into robbed and and then I’m AOE from it when the guy explodes but you can’t do that I’m bosses because they don’t get all you’re not killing the boss that way

  17. Regardless with marks and skills are or rather class abilities or whatever you can pretty much set up any class to play however you wanna play it but out of the box the tectum answer is a really good sniper and boss killer the Pyro is also a good sniper once you hit Dan fourth scale well he’s a good sniper anyway because is squishy and he has no choice at the beginning to but to be a sniper it’s kind a hard to run around indiscriminately killing on the Pyro Manser because you die too easy the tricksterAnd the devastator they’re just powerhouse as managers run around indiscriminately killing everything up close and personal and if you’re not doing it that way then you’ll probably die in a lot on those two classes because that’s the only way they get heels

  18. It’s never going to change it to linear world it’s not a sandbox can’t just runoff and do whatever you want and you can’t go wherever you want you you it’s an arena how-based world with arenas you move into each arena after killing everything in the arena before and I have a feeling that’s going to continue throughout the entire game even in the expeditions

  19. Confusing instances with server segments bud in destiny when it glitches for a second you’re just transferring server segments not the same is creating a new instance for you you’re just moving from an existing instance to another instance but it already exists in a dirty ass people in it

  20. The game has plenty of jank. However the gameplay feels fun as it is. I already get a good feeling from the power fantasy with gear. I'm going to gamble and get it day one. I think it will be fun to grind out on my weekends for atleast a month. If I can squeeze 30-40 hours of fun out of it, totally worth it.

  21. For me I enjoy everything about the game the constant loading into new areas is annoying i can’t even lie like I jump across a bridge I have to load the next part of the map the camera shake is annoying and some times there’s some performance issues with the game itself but you brought up a good point that just hit me recently and that’s the style of the armor and I wish the armor was different for everyone only because it would be nice to just look at your friend and be like oh he’s playing a technomancer instead of just seeing his abilities he’s using. But overall all I can really say is the game is promising but with how much we got for content says a lot only because we got so little I’ve played betas of games that lasted longer and shown more then outriders not to mention the lack of a crafting system and a lack of skill points just to able to experiment our builds like if the game gave us 7 points for reaching rank 7 I’d be happy or just like get to a major node atleast to really get into my character but overall it’s a promising game the demo is great needs some touch ups but unfortunately right now the game we are all waiting for is a promise let’s just hope it’s not gonna be another no mans sky

Pyromancer is great, but his abilities require more finesse than Trickster or Devastator. DOES NOT mean that the Pyromancer class is "bad" or "worse" than the rest of the classes. I've had a ton of fun and the small problems are so minimal they don't even bother me.

  23. my only 2 gripes so far are the ridiculous number of instances, and shooting from cover. I have no problem for it being a bad tactical move but your weapon handing in most games (maybe not tactical shooter) usually doesn't decrease to the point you feel like you're manning a Gatling gun while shooting an auto rifle.

  24. You nailed it when you said, "the fact that they have created a loop where you could spend, you know, 20 hours creating the hyper-fast, captain killing farm build for a demo." I've got exactly 20 hours in right now since downloading the demo on Tuesday and I can't stop farming the OG captain. If the demo has me hooked, then I'm getting good vibes for the real game.
