Outriders Season Pass? Battle Pass? Nothing? In this video I discuss how I hope Outriders will approach the topic of post launch content. I think they have a great example of failed monetization from Borderlands 3, and I hope they do not repeat some of those same mistakes. Call of Duty Cold War has also shown us how to leverage microtransactions with free content. I want this game to last for longer than a few months! Idk if you would call this a podcast but I love discussion and if you enjoy this type of content let me know how it can be improved upon!

Legendaries being wiped was the only thing preventing me from preordering. Now that it's patched, I'm fully on board the hype train 🚀
its funny, i see it the exactly other way. i am happy to pay for expansions/seasons where i get new characters, weapons, powers etc. and i want skins and cosmetics to be something i can grind my ass off for. like if i see an outrider with a specific skin, i know he did an expedition on the hardest difficulty solo. i just feel better about spending money on actual new content instead of cosmetics that i buy because i'm drunk or something haha.
definitely see your point too though and i'm sure many think like you.
i think you can only do the "free content with paid skins" model, if you have a big playerbase that you know will buy that stuff. if you have a smaller playerbase, you cant give out free content since the money from skins wont be enough for the developement costs. we will see what they do but i think its gonna be a while if they do something post launch since they are mainly concentrating on the main game right now.
I'm torn, I love the commitment from the dev about releasing a full complete game. On the other hand, I know how I am and I'm going to blast through the content in a short amount of time. So lets say Outriders is a success, if they are not working on meaningful content now it's going to be 7 to 9 months before anything new is added to the game. To me that seems like a lost opportunity, because by then I'll probably have moved on. I don't whale out on cosmetics, I want raids more levels different guns maybe more classes. I could care less about cosmetics.
Some great points on monetization. And you are 100% correct on the Outriders fan base exploring any and all creators videos. It almost felt like with the Outriders ambassador’s were fed content and told, here ya go. Stick to this script and make the visual anyway you want.
So that alone lifted some of these channels. Again, that’s just a theory so I might be wrong. But whatever. Hey Good channel man!! I’ve had you subbed for a few weeks now. What platform are you playing this game on?
