Outriders News – Steam Players Down 90%

Outriders news has not been very positive lately, so the news that People Can Fly is planning on future Outriders expansion is welcome, albeit surprising. Outriders gameplay continues to suffer from bugs and problems. With Outriders Steam Players Down 90% it’s curious why they would already be talking about expanding.

My Outriders review ultimately resulted in boredom and stopping playing. Every Outriders patch seemed to address problems while creating more and ignoring the Outriders trickster build power versus the Outriders Devastator build weakness. Not to mention that even with the best Outriders legendary farm some of the best items in the game elude longtime grinders.

PC Gamer recently reported that “More Outriders games are likely thanks to 3.5 million players milestone” and that “Square Enix reckons it’s the ‘company’s next major franchise’.” They went on to say in their article that “Outriders attracted 3.5 million unique players in April, and according to Square Enix the series is “on track to become the company’s next major franchise.” In other words, the possibility of an Outriders 2 seems high, not to mention updates to the existing game.” Now obviously one cannot ignore the other facts that went into the large player counts and PC Gamer is quick to point out, “That number is impressive, but it has no bearing on sales figures: Outriders was an Xbox Game Pass launch title on Xbox consoles, so I’d hazard a guess that a lot of players are coming from there. Meanwhile, there’s a substantial free demo on all platforms, though it’s unclear whether this figure includes those players.” My biggest issue with all of this is the complete lack of quality, slowness in true fixes, and the massive player drops. Let’s break down why I’m saying “I told you so”.

Outriders is a cooperative role-playing third-person video game developed by People Can Fly and published by Square Enix’s European subsidiary. It was released on April 1, 2021 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia. Timestamps below…

  1. You've probably never heard of Square Enix VP talking about 3.5 million unique Outriders players in an interview recently. He also said that it was one of their biggest hits and game will probably get the sequel.

  2. Yo Lono! Came in super late… missing on the gaming channel streaming now… lol… sorry
Interestingly enough knowing how youtube works is beneficial not only to content creators but for viewers as well. Now I know why your vids were behaving strange… I had to search for a couple or more streams, and even for regulars is kinda pain to do that… the recommendations list is a double edged sword, but still one of the better, if not the best, of youtube features. People (humans in general) are bad at estimating time, specially so when assessing how people behave when strapped for time…
Now, personal take inbound: I don't enjoy twitch because is to close to a very niche tv channel, and while live content is nice, VoD is the superior alternative (obviously). And I totally agree with you, is more of a "temple" for people to mob around the top dog of the moment… Regardless, I enjoy your content on youtube better because 1. is not only entertaining, is also available both live (when I can catch it) and recorded; 2. due to my personal situation, I can't get you live, so many time I consume your content while working, and your streams being long(ish) is preferable over shorter vids because I can't afford the time to be searching for the next in line (the auto-play will get me to places I care nothing for, double edge aye).
The 10min shorts (summaries) are good as well… on occasion… but timestamps work fine. Just one thing I was wondering, would be hard to cutoff the intro after the recording? Is not major, and a timestamp would work as well, I guess…

Outriders, well, has a lot of potential… but then again, the gaming industry is full of unrealized potential… if PCF are really serious about additional content or even a sequel, they must put the current game on the right track, realize the potential so to "speak", otherwise everything they do moving forward will be effectively DoA. To be frank, I didn't rush through the game, and have only one character on expeditions end-game, but I have a very chilled approach to gaming nowadays (and feel I've got my moneys worth), but obviously this is not the case for the majority of the player-base.

I usually don't "buy in" early-access games, anecdotal, but the three (Baldur's Gate 3, Valheim and Dorfromantik (know this one?lol)) I bought, ended up enjoying very much… fluke maybe? I genuinely think there's a lot of insight to be picked from other people's reviews/impressions… for me worked for all 3 I've mentioned…

  3. Yeah there are still a ton of us working. The working people that can't be there live are the people you lost after 4/20 including me. Glad it's back

  4. Very excited to be able to watch again. I’m not able to watch during the day since I’m at work. I usually watch at night when I’m gaming and I went from being able to watch for 4 hours to 10mins 🙁
