In this video I wanted to talk about Outriders cheating policy and how it could possibly effect Xbox players at launch.
I love Outriders, I love the developers and I think they are doing a great job. The cheating policy is fantastic except for this one potential oversight and I think that it should be discussed.

In order to stop people from resetting their system clock and modifying their time to refresh vendors faster they have put a stipulation in their cheating policy that externally modifying your time could result in a permanent branding on your account and reduced matchmaking. This is TOTALLY fine.

The problem is that Xbox players since the release of the console have always switched their region to New Zealand when new games release so that they can play them 12+ hours ahead of time before the official release in their timezone. They aren’t trying to cheat or abuse the game, they are just doing something that they have been able to do on every single other game.

So potentially Outriders could be the first game EVER to punish players for doing this with a PERMANENT branding on their account and the players 60$ game purchase being ruined before the release of the game. And the only way any Xbox player would know about why or how this happened is if they happened to read the subreddit and the developer update.

Is it guaranteed to happen? No
Could it possibly happen? Yes
The potentially ramifications of having a large amount of legit Xbox players branded as cheaters when they aren’t is devastating for the Outriders community as a whole.

All I’m asking for is developer clarification on this potential issue so people can either be warned to not do this or go about their merry business and swap to New Zealand like they always have.

  1. Check out open world gamings video on this topic. They responded to a Reddit user stating that they would not take action against players whom did the vendor glitch as they did not tell players they couldn’t. However, they said if you do it in the future you would get flagged.

  2. PCF is very clear when it comes to cheaters and I agree with them. This is a PVE based game so why should you have to cheat. I game all day everyday and I don't see the need to race to the endgame. Cheaters should be branded in PVE and band in PVP based games. It's always the ppl that cheat that ruins the gaming experience for everyone else. Just have fun and play the game like it was meant to be played. But do what you want it's your account not mine. The content creations is still there and will be there. It's not a race!

  3. I would be really surprised if changing your timezone would get you flagged.
This is what the devs said: " Externally modifying game time to reduce time dependent features such as vendors and challenges "
I'm quite certain what they meant here was turning your system clock an hour ahead and because in-game things, such as vendors use your system time they would reset.
If changing timezone was considered cheating then people who travel a lot could never play the game without fear of being branded as a cheater.

  4. No point risking it, just to play only a few hours early, especially for content creators like yourself, where yeh you wanna make videos fast, but if it does hit you, then your content is likely fucked, even if you are fully legit, if people see that cheater flag, I can imagine a lot of people would write off your videos and just ignore your content.. which would honestly be a shame, since you’re genuinely good at builds and how game mechanics actually work

Someone will always be playing before someone, unless we force a global launch time, which would increase stress on servers and would likely mean that you still have to wait till 5pm GMT on launch day.

  6. i Changing my location every time on my xbox PCF are talking about this Externally modifying game time to reduce time dependent features such as vendors and challenges. PCF they are not talking about changing location on your xbox only gets you the game early that's it if you go in your xbox sysem you will see the time don't mess with that when the game is out

  7. Ehhhh, I honestly wouldn't risk it, I can wait a few more hours lol, it's probably not gonna get you banned but is 9 hours of gameplay really worth it, just stay up all night the night before and wake up like an hour before the game actually launches, problem solved lol

  8. Changing time zone is not changing time your just changing the region to test this set your time to New Zealand load the demo then change your time zone back to where you live and see if the vendor items change if not then your good if they change then I wouldn’t do it
