Outriders Worldslayer: Steam Deck Benchmarks & Optimized Settings

Third-person looter shooter Outriders by People Can Fly and Square Enix has just received a new expansion with Worldslayer – and to our delight the necessary files to finally run on the Steam Deck. So it’s the perfect time to put all quality presets to the test and find the best settings for a pleasant gaming experience.

(Please pardon the quality of my voice over recordings: A better microphone is already on the way! The render artefacts were also unintentional; however, I felt it was more important to finally publish the video.)

The Deckverse is a passion project of mine and wants to become the Steam Deck equivalent to channels like Digital Foundry. Benchmarks and optimised settings are just the tip of the iceberg and there is great content waiting for you in the pipe! All optimized Presets are also available on our Deckverse Discord server.

  1. Great video. On comment I'll make for anyone configuring outriders on Steam deck is that it is very sensitive to resolution changes. It must stay at default 1280×800 or it often will not start when loading. This is similar to the framerate limiter mentioned in the video. It has to be off when starting the game, but then you can adjust it while in game. If you try to adjust it down to use FSR, then the game will not boot. For this reason, its best to not use FSR since it requires a lower resolution to have any effect.
