  1. Sucks about Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy didn't make as much money, it's a good game with tons of potential for an incredible sequel, but I don't think the game was particularly well marketed. Marvel's Avengers though… yeah… no surprises there.

  2. It seems that nowadays, every game needs to ‘phone home’ to some server in order to be played at all. This includes games that are essentially single player or couch co-op. Companies can pull the plug and leave customers with an expensive but useless file on their console or.PC. I would like to see legislation requiring that any company that chooses to shut down game servers must supply their customers with a copy that can be played offline.

  3. Sorry for the ignorance, could somebody please explain to me what's so bad about Avengers? I played it for a few hours on GamePass strictly as a single player experience and it seemed ok. Who gives a crap about life service stuff. I usually also ignore microtransactions and take games for what they are. Consume what's there in terms of single player and on to the next thing.

  4. Ive always thought SE messing with western studios and IPs felt odd anyway. I love many of their JP games. Final fantasy and Nier. Triangle Strategy was cool as well as Bravely Default.

Them offloading their western studios sounds great to me from both sides. They get to focus more on what they excell at, which evidently is working with Japanese devs. Then the western studios/IPs hopefully get better and more sensible treatment

  5. No one want to address the elephant in the room about Square Enix's Avengers game. It was doomed to fail when it was decided to force anyone who wanted to play the single player campaign to play as Kamala Khan/ Ms. Marvel for over an hour to get to any character anyone would actually want to play. Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan was repeatedly rejected by the comic book reading fanbase and trying to force that character down the publics throat sealed the fate of that game. I'm personally glad they spent over a hundred million on development and got no return. The left refer to this as "structural change" meaning if you want to play you have to do it their way or not at all, glad the public chose not at all.

  6. Never buy, install or play products from the most disgusting publishers, who made "AAA" = junk: Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Square Enix and Ubisoft.
(EA, as always, being the worst of the worst, is the only one still thriving).

  7. They just paired the wrong franchise with the wrong studios. Imagine getting Tomb Raider veterans to make a first person shooter. They don't have the experience for that and it showed.

  8. Square Enix aside, I think marvel avengers has reached the point of diminishing returns. With the mega-success of the avengers movies, we see them everywhere… toys, lunchboxes etc., I think people started to feel the bit stale towards the franchise.

  9. I don't understand why they announced the "200 million dollars loss" but they don't give the pure analysis. What was the amount of money they invested in each game's development etc . I feel that they invested in Marvel 's Avengers assemble more in microtransactions rather than the game itself.
