It was a bitty week for news, so Headlines & Hot Takes isn’t full of scorching opinions, but we did find time to chat about the upcoming Resident Evil Village showcase and the recent reveal of some locations in the game. We also discussed IO Interactive’s mysterious third project and what’s next for Ian Hitman. Of course, we chatted about the fact there are graphics cards smugglers now, too.
Show and Tell is full of chat on People Can Fly’s surprisingly popular third person shooter. So, as well as discussing the game’s launch issues, you’ll get to see some Outriders gameplay and you’ll get to hear an Outriders review. In short, it does a lot of things quite well without being incredible. Also, Colm’s put a decent amount of time into the Abe’s Exodus remake, Oddworld Soulstorm, so you’ll get to hear about how the modernisation of Abe doesn’t include farting in his Oddworld Soulstorm review. Even if the game had farting, you wouldn’t get to see that in his Oddworld Soulstorm gameplay anyway, so you don’t need to worry about that. And there’s a little bit of time at the end for Colm to tell his co-host about all those times he told people to piss off in indie game, Say No! More. You can see his Charlie Dimmock Hulk in our Say No More gameplay.
This week’s Mystery Steam Reviews answers the age old question: New York or Mars. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on holidays and ini files.

Can anyone explain why you'd play Outriders instead of Warframe? It just looks like a more generic, less customisable version of that, & it isn't even free.
Is Max Payne neo-noir? It's noir, but I'm not sure about the.. wait.. it's Neo-noir, with a capital N isn't it?
The FOV thing might not be the best example. Console FOV is commonly like dialup; it's fine if it's all you've got, but it really doesn't compare with broadband & you can't go back without it feeling incredibly frustrating & constricting.
Game pass does give you access, you have take ownership of the folders first.
just found these podcasts on lastnights shift, love that theirs a youtube video version too:)……….although a new cam might be a good idea matthew lol
On the topic of having access to game files: As a long time PC gamer I can't say I miss the days of having to faff about with autoexec.bat, config.sys and trying to get soundcards working with various workarounds (somehow we did this before having the internet to look stuff up). I feel it's going too far in the other direction though. Having all sorts of weird mods, conversions, custom dedicated servers and being able to tweak things to your liking isn't without value. There's always been a nerdy playfulness to PC gaming that doesn't play well with online services and walled gardens. As Matthew says it's a defining part of PC gaming and I'm a little sad that we seem to be gradually losing it.
Also, well done Ross. Brilliant mate.
