  1. This is way more in depth than it needs to be, here is the simple fact. Outriders is an uninspired boring game that looks like every other generic anthem-like game. Nobody cares about it. And that's where it's at.

  2. Server situation was probably not ready for the traffic that GP brought kept people from buying it

The fact that more people demo'ed it through GP, more word of mouth about bugs, lack of progression, kept people from buying it

People that did enjoy it through GP didn't buy it

Since no one bought it early on, it's going to go on sale soon, so harder to get sales goals
But it's still early, so I'm sure PCF will see some royalties, I hope

  3. It wasn't game pass for the game to flop it was the developers for leaving the game the way it was and not updating like they was supposed to. The developers ruin their own games. I even stop playing the game you get to a point like finished all side missions and after that is nothing to do after but the same thing over and over.

  4. When the game is completely fixed of bugs the price of the game is less then 40 dollars I start seeing DLC and there server problem is no longer a problem I will buy it! so will others it's a amesome multiplayer online third person shooter with a decent campaign, square enix and peoplecanfly need to sort it out and look at digital sales.

  5. I dont agree with your points, i think game pass and square screwed the developer, There was alot of hype i saw leading up to release, yes the game had its issues but nothing game breaking for most and no game comes out perfect. I remember playing the limited beta and the internet was buzzing with anticipation for the game.

  6. This has turned into a pretty damn good game, especially on the new consoles. It’s very stable, the loot drops are great, and matchmaking is flawless. I’m sure if I had played this at launch I’d be salty, but for just having started it in July, it’s been a hell of a fun co op game.

  7. No its not game pass fault, it's the devs for pushing out a product that clearly wasn't ready to be pushed. Its so common place anymore that people look to blame other shit now instead of the devs.

  8. Here's a novel idea don't make a buggy mess of a game if you want to make money. I can't tell you how sick people are of this shit. It doesn't matter if they fix the game. Hype fades quickly. If you release a shit game it probably won't sell well and after that people forget about it.

I wonder if Outer Worlds got paid? Rhetorical…..

  9. I never get excited about sales, not money in my pocket n if the game sucks who cares? Gave outriders a go it's an ugly game mechanics were ok, co-op sucks 🤣😝. Hate when I'm watching porn n some ratbag invites me to a game it's disturbing. The game wasn't worth my time; good thing I didn't pay for it. Xbox should refresh what's offered on game pass. Off topic Hellblade depressing pile of poo.

  10. If they're estimating 3 million copies… At $60 that's $180 million. Then there's the Microsoft deal to get it on game pass… Something ain't right here. Whatever deal square e and people can fly made… Square didn't do them justice.

  11. Dead in the water?! Lol Matty outriders was like the best selling game on PSN for a while and it got higher concurrent players on steam than any borderlands game ever the game despite how I feel about it was selling like hot cakes on PSN and Steam. But maybe the specific deal on gamepass itself wasn't profitable.
Either way this game was AA budget and sold a lot sqaure definitely profited but seems like haven't paid PCF properly yet

  12. square enix probably didn't calculate gamepass money into the profits. On purpose to maximize their own profit. They didn't count Gamepass as sales. More money in square enix pocket and not for the developer.

  13. You just can't blame game pass for this buggy mess of a game outrider I bought this game on Steam I wish I have Game Pass my PC crash a hundred times playing outriders I have to stop playing this game with all the game breaking bugs

  14. i think you’re missing something much worse about this story — it implies square enix made the game pass deal behind the dev team’s back. microsoft pays square enix for the deal, but because this also reduces sales on xbox, the dev team is cut out.

so overall sales are lower b/c half of ppl are playing it on game pass. but square also enjoys that sweet game pass money without sharing it with the dev team. that’s why square is happy with the deal while the game also sold poorly.

i personally have no opinion on the game, never played it. but i think the interesting part of the story is that square looks like they used a game pass offfer to screw the dev team based on reimbursement from game sales in the contract.

  15. There is a difference between being profitable and not reaching expectations which is nebulus – Square Enix did this with Deus Ex and Tomb Raider – both games made money and reviewed well, but did not 'meet expectations' or 'enough money' lol… The problem is expectations – Im positive Outriders made them money, it just was not as much as they predicted so they call it a loss – Corporations do this shit all the time, they will have 'reduced profits' and call it a 'loss' when in fact they did not loose anything they just did not make as much as they predicted lol…

  16. I definitely wouldn't have played this if it weren't on game pass, and i had fun with it but in saying that it's not a game i think i will ever return to. Unless a sequel were to happen.

Fact is, this game was buggy and technically flawed at its base (the many many loading screens being a prime example). Easy to see why many weren't impressed and wouldn't want to buy it.
