As possibly the only person in the world still using Bing, I'm saving the Microsoft reward points I get from using their search engine. By the time Starfield comes out next year I'll have at enough points for a Microsoft gift card big enough to get it for free. I'll still wait for a review 1st, though. If the game turns out to be crap I'll just use the gift card on something else.
It's not about Xbox for them anymore. It's about gamepass. What's better for a corporation than lots of revenue? Lots of consistent revenue. The newest Xbox wasn't made to outsell the PS5 but to get a gamepass platform into as many hands as possible. Whether it's PC or Xbox, they don't care, so long as you have gamepass.
I'm sure the most important metric for Microsoft right now is active Xbox live accounts vs gamepass subcriptions. I almost bet they're aiming for a one to one conversion, and that's only a slight hyperbole.

Battlefield 4 had 10 multiplayer maps, and ended up with 30 after DLC. If I'm getting BF2042 it would be worthwhile to get the season pass too. But yeah a campaign would have been nice for people who wanted that.
