Outriders is a game about having some rather fancy magical powers in a future sort-of-apocalypse alien world where everyone either hates or fears you, and it does all seem rather strangely familiar…

skip ahead Jon in firefight behind chest-high cover skip ahead Jon in firefight behind chest-high cover skip ahead Jon in firefight behind chest-high cover… Okay, just plain skip this game then.
Don't know if you've ever tried Remnant From the Ashes but thus reminds me a lot of that.
A British guy who always goes evil and makes bad decisions. Hmmmm. HMMMMMMM.
I wonder if they were thinking of Wheatley?
Why did the enemies go from normal to tanky AF all of a sudden?
Intel Officer: Everyone is wearing 3 inches of layered power armor and has genetically engineered skin made of a kevlar-teflon composite.
Quartermaster: .22LR Submachineguns for everyone! Also, as long as we're shoving crayons up our noses anyway, don't forget to put lasers on you sniper rifles!
2:09 M&S critical to civilisation, according to Jon.
Of course the enemies are a little on the tanky side. It came from people who made Gears of War games, the apex of games with ridiculously tanky enemies.
I struggle to see the RPG elements. Is it just HOW you kill the enemies you need to kill to complete the mission?
That was a perfectly adequate looter-shooter, I guess.
But when are you going to play Adventures of a Post-Apocalyptic Magical Girl? That sounds rad!
1:58 Wow, breathing without masks? Already better than Earth.
It's basically gears of war
Combining 'RPG's and First Person Shooters'
… So a looter shooter. Congratulations Square Enix, you reinvented the same wheel.
Many A True Nerd you have to play Remnant for the ashes with me Ps Network profile- ugly_unicorn82.. Big fan habe tohave u in my party atleast once.
hopefully this turns out good, this many concepts being mashed together usually ends up a mess. this studio has a good history though
Actually feeling some FO4 and Destiny. Looks okay, but no surprises.
I'm gonna be honest. Jon set my expectations impossibly high with a title like "The Adventures Of A Post Apocalyptic Magical Girl" no game could live up to that kind of title.

I recall ages ago, there was a game set in some kind of post apocalypse with gameplay that reminded of Zone of Enders. You played as people with powers against other people with powers. That game got scrapped in development, which made me sad because I was pretty hyped at the time. The premise of Outriders seemed to reach deep into my memory vault to trigger memories of that game. Not sure what to make of this rambling comment, but hey… viewer engagement and all that
I enjoy this channel, but this game doesn't really look great
So… based on this video, the game is all boss-battles and little to no story.
tell me this game is coming out on PS4
I gave it a shot, and besides some janky ztuff I did like the aesthetic of actual trench warfare with space magic, though the textures for me(ps4) left more then some characters looking like clay dolls.
I'm interested in it, but still am unsure.
It's like Andromeda crossed with Rage with that classic People Can Fly cover shooting. Seems like nothing revolutionary but still a fun little romp.
10:46 Just like real life
This is probably a good game if you never played Destiny (which is trash and I haven't), ME: Andromeda (which is trash and I haven't), or the division (which is trash and I haven't). I say give it a shot if you haven't burnt yourself out on shitty, rushed, AAA games.
Absolute garbage micro transaction vending machine, hardest pass.
I hate most looter shooters, I played Destiny 1 but got bored after 2-3 months.
I played Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer for almost a year as one of my main time sinks.
This game hits a real specific niche I like in a way I can't explain. The Narmy voice acting deliveries are surprisingly charming, and the weapon abilities are awesome, even without the crafting system that exists in the full game. I do believe it isn't a 60 dollar game, but I will pay 40 when it gets down to that price. I am also looking forward to continuing the story.
Love the Video Jon!

Over there
The subtitles are broken on the ps5 as well
Oh no, a British person ruin everything because of the colonialism!
Also, this is post post apocalypse
Multiplayer? Blech.
Guess we already know where all the development time is going to go.
The first actual boss is a knock off Sith.
"Why are you working for them?"
Didn't you just try to kill me not so long ago?
I think looter-shooters can be a lot of fun- Borderlands 2 & 3 are brilliant for example. RPGs can dip into the looter shooter genre and still be great fun.. For me, Mass Effect Andromeda was much better than everyone said it was. Outriders visually appeals to me, but the surfcace level story execution just didn't hold my interest enpugh to make me want to see if it got better.
I mean it looks alright, kind of bland though, I'll stick to borderlands 2
Look like mass effekt.
I agree about the lukewarm. It looks like all stuff we've seen before, just mashed together quasi-successfully. Still, if the price comes down, maybe worth a play through some day. I wish they had done a bit more with the role playing aspect though. Kinda looks like, "What if Mass Effect had better combat, but, like, no real story or allies to bog you down." Which is kind of a shame because, you know, story… Kinda more important to me than fast-paced combat. But at least the AI doesn't seem totally useless. Enemies try to flank you. They move up or hold to cover depending on what they're actually good at. Bosses switch up tactics. Not bad. Just without a decent story, not really compelling to repeat. Or even hold my interest for long play. More like a casual, "I want to watch the world burn," moments.
It looks like another version of second son.
In this episode: buddy, buddy, buddy, buddy, buddy, buddy, buddy, buddy, buddy, buddy!
BUDDY
Games like this just make me appreciate STALKER even more. I absolutely hate cover shooters and how uninspired their level design is, oh what's this a room full chest high objects? Imagine my shock when combat happens!
In STALKER there's plenty stuff to hide behind but it's laid out like a real location, if you want cover you have to find it and in some situations there will be none and you just have to deal with it. I really hate the cover shooter way of doing things because it makes every battle feel pretty much the same.
You and the bad guys all see each other and then you all run behind convenient objects and pop up and down until one side is dead, that's all there ever is.
Meanwhile in STALKER I can hide behind a car and think I'm safe and when I pop up to look for my enemy he's snuck around the side and blasts me with a CHEEKI BREEKI IV DAMNKE.
Or sometimes when you expect them to move they've literally just stood like a statue and laser you the second you get up. It makes every single fire fight a thrill, even when you're fighting weakling bandits at the start.
The sad thing is that they're SO CLOSE to a cool game here. Rebalance the game for single player, drop the focus on loot, focus on the story. I suppose the hardest part is dropping the bullet sponge mechanics, as it means they have to make bigger levels- the levels here looked REALLY short, padded out by enemies with, well, waaay to much padding. Also, drop the classes. Let us mix and match our own thing.
If any game were to benefit from dropping multiplayer, I think it's this one.
