The Rise And Fall Of A Game That Made Nothing….

Outriders stormed onto the scene in April, 2021 and outpaced popular titles and franchises for initial player counts. Players quickly fell in love with its fast-paced, visceral combat system along with an incredible ability to build-craft. Unfortunately, the game was consistenly plagued by major technical gremlins and inconsistent balance changes. Hackers and poor design choices were the final nail in the coffin for this promising 3rd Person Looter Shooter.

  1. It was reported that Outriders made no profit for People Can Fly. With initial player counts like these, how is this possible?

  2. This game came out after playing Warframe for like 6 months , and Remnant from the Ashes , no fucking way I was gonna play this game .Too many people are doing this style of game better. Destiny 2 is really healthy and content rich so it had very little hope to compete.

  3. my brother and I really enjoyed this game, we came to it fairly late, but was far and away our favorite game to play together.
but when we reached the end, there wasn't enough to really keep us around.
we jump into it again from time to time, but quite rarely these days

  4. I loved the game, it had so much potential but unfortunately the developers couldn't deliver. I was an avid daily player up until last September and was recommended the division 1 and 2 and omg, I can't get enough of these games and have been playing them on the daily since. Keep up the good work Ltbuzzlightbeer 😎🤟

  5. The so-called balancing patch destroyed everything I had built up ingame. It completely destroyed my fun ingame and had me stop playing pretty much at that time. I never even bought the DLC later on, despite spending 50 hours in the demo and loving the gameplay at release.

  6. The only thing that made the final version of this game fun for me was using CE to put any mod on any slot. I built some fun but not game-breaking builds. Allowing any mod on any slot would have helped this game a lot.

  7. Outriders was fun, different, challenging, frustrating and entertaining all in the same go. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. However, what made me walk away was the issue of being able to log in. Fixed one patch broken the next. It just got to the point of saying enough was enough. Much like multitude of issues going on with Division 2 as of recently.

I’d like to give it another go but Outrider’s is a game that you can’t just pick up and play like another COD or Battlefield. The game mechanics take a little getting used to. Once you get it down it’s all go and no stop.

  8. For me, it was the Apoc gear grind "tonnage" that just killed Outriders for me. It was MASSIVE for each character. I just couldn't do it. And I am a Div2 player of 8,800+ hours. So…yeah…I'm long suffering and patient. Even I couldn't stomach that type of grind.

Outside of the "you are locked in the dungeon with the boss" gameplay vs. true open world; I enjoy the original Outriders concept.

  9. Honestly, what I saw from that beta/demo was nothing but mediocre rubbish with a generic story and quite frankly moronic dialogues.

I remember when you got back to that woman which is then a commander, how she blames you for things, for not being up-to-date with literally everything around the planet, after she stuffed you in a tube and forgot about you. That was already the moment I simply wanted to pull out my gun, shoot her in the face and switch sides.

  10. I enjoyed Outriders for its gear features, though I really wasn't too impressed with the combat. It was functional, it worked, the classes were fine, the skill trees were good, and the abilities and gear perks synergized well, all that was fine. The problem, for me, was the variety in mission objectives, and the fact that basically everything was just "run to next room, kill all bad guys, repeat to infinity and beyond."

Warframe has a mission type like that called Exterminate, you kill all the bad guys, then extract when ready. But that's just one objective, whereas that was the BULK of Outriders. Warframe also has Rescue missions that are like Metal Gear Solid. Spy missions winding through lasers and cameras and hacking panels. Varying defensive objectives like Excavations where multiple excavators can be activated at a time (and a team can really cash in), and Disruptions where you have to use sound to track a specific enemy before they destroy conduits, or escort objectives like Defection. Or even just endless Survival. And between the use of vehicles like hoverboards, mechs, multicrew spacecraft and space jetpacks to fly around like in an anime, there are all sorts of variety. Outriders was like sci-fi Division, but even less story and less interesting.

I am interested to see if it keeps getting support, or more expansions, or a sequel. Though they likely need to up their game a bunch and vary things up, because I know these games are all about repetition. Outriders felt too repetitive too quick.

  11. I honestly think they should have stuck to their guns with it not being a live service. Make a good game, let it be then work on a full sequel. That model probably would have done them better than an expansion

  12. I bought it & put in 100's of hrs into this game. Still have it installed on my ps5. Hoping tht something will come of it. I enjoyed the different builds, the chaotic battles. But the repetitive nature of the game got boring fast. The game could've been way more. A Destiny killer possibly. But they pulled a Anthem & failed a great game.

  13. I honestly had never heard about it until 2 weeks ago and found a demo on ps store when I was searching for something to play after rage quitting Returnal. Returnal was a nightmare. 30 hrs and still biome 1. Compared to Returnal I find it more enjoyable and less frustrating to play. Now I feel like I’m playing catch up as I am grinding through the base game and into expansion.

  14. It's a shame they learned nothing from player feedback regarding endgame and if they did it was way too little too late for anyone to care. Same goes for me, learned nothing from PCF's failures with the OG game that I had faith that Worldslayer would be fire and Take Two killed it like a month after launch.

  15. Nailed it perfectly, one of the best shooters ive played, but the technical issues and the devs almost arrogant approach to the community killed it for most. The APOC grind was over the top and only hurt its chances of a comeback, most recognised this pretty quickly

  16. Seriously, dude I was waiting with anticipation for this game. I don’t know how you missed all of that, and Tamil was a gigantic fucking fix as people played it even though you got play through the whole thing and you know my son, an hour people played and played and played in ground away, giving birth, the legendary fit you could get from it.

  17. It’s not a crash dude it’s just they play they completed and they move back. There’s no endgame at all. It was a co-op. Story bass game. Bet you play through. You beat the boss and wash or just you know a glutton for grinding your move down. because there was nothing else to do. Once you’ve completed the story I’ve played through my way twice or three times couple of different classes experimented with all the classes but I think I’ve played through the entire story twice maybe what the fuck do you do after you’ve done the story and there’s no endgame

  18. I did not deliver all of their in spades. The game has zero I mean no no end game activities. It has a decent around story one that can hold your attention all the way through but once you kill our worst boss, you basically throwaway everything start doing expeditions which are nothing but grinding for deer that’s all and ask for this shit is is you grinding for better gear so you can Get better at doing expeditions to grind for more deer that’s literally what they call a man game is grinding for deer. I don’t think anyone in their right mind. Thanks for grinding for deer is fun it’s just what you have to do to get to the actual M game i.e. yell, raids or PVP or something do you bet Carey you’ve been grinding for This game and none of that so people played it they completed it they may be playing through on a different class or two, and then he moved out there’s no PVP there’s no endgame activities at all. Yeah, it was a good game with good mechanics. Good care replacing a good story by every game you play through and then you walk away, and what did they do with their development time on the first DLC be rearranged expeditions they been put in an endgame Bishop we change the way your ground for gear would you have no use for because there’s nothing literally nothing to use it either accept rhyming for more deer. I mean they could’ve actually put more storyline and records as shooter. Scroll the story was OK it was exceptional but it was passable. I play it again if I thought there was a reason now grind up a new character especially if there was a new story I could get you at level 30 or whatever

  19. First of all, I didn’t have PVP yeah shooter that was a bad idea. Secondly, I lost the biggest chunk orange flare face in the first year because of all the problems I mean I had a terrible watch dude I don’t know how you’re playing ignoring the track, they had a gigantic failure of a launch with all kinds of multiplayer issues. Oh, people losing their entire inventory‘s all kinds of problems, but I took them forever to fax Bob Martin appointed, expeditions, same way. They just slapped it on at the end like they designed the game with the beginning a start and end, but with the capability of future DLC‘s, and then decided to pretend like they weren’t alive service came by saying we have an end game and the game is going to be a complete at launch blah blah, blah really what they did is as an afterthought slab Dan endgame activity what they call Beth Beth seem to be designed by a different fucking studio, you know suddenly all the gear you just collected the legendary‘s you had all of that shit became obsolete in three minutes in your first explanation by the way the entire first half of the game before expeditions also became obsolete because nothing heard in any of that could be used in explanations The level was locked so any of the phone parts of the story that you wanted to do over which they designed so you could easily do it over model that shit produced any items that were used to you as it was all like level 30 and below, reflect out of totally different group design expeditions without taking the account that you may want to go to do that old contact again, and should be able to get something useful out of it It’s a good game to kind of just went to shit because of the developers choices.

  20. Which, by the way, was really hard because the demo didn’t have any of those problems and it was just his while we played how many Jesus Badamo’s popularist fuck Youtubers were gone while talking about the legendary items that Youtubers where dad got cheating using Jaden Janet, other tools to make sure they got all of the legendary items from that were available in Modelo and I forgot I was like five or 10 legendary‘s you can get but it did not have no problems with multiplayer that the full release game head

  21. But for a wife time they fixed almost all the problems in the first year refunded through random gear replacement they refunded everybody who lost in fact I got gear I didn’t even lose any, but I got some gear anyway it’s kind of a thank you for putting up with all that shit I asked for you never had any issues at all, but I think most of the issues only showed up when people are playing in multiplayer mode when they were grouping up with others that’s when they’re losing inventory and having all kinds of connection issues then why not

  22. Oh it’s not just the flaws. Lots of us don’t go revisit it because there’s nothing new to do with play through all the content multiple times some of us done all the side mentions all the stories and then there’s just expeditions left if I want outrageously repetitive bullshit? There’s a lot of better choices and that’s all exudation verve. Repetitive bullshit.

  23. That’s not what a life first game is you’re being moronic fixing problems balancing systems does not make an ally service game. The only thing that defines a game as live service or games as a service. JSS is the proper term games as a service is if they have a continuing revenue stream so if they initially sell you the game or let you play it for free, but have some method of continuing to make money of off of it. After the initial sale it’s a live service Game And by the way this game had that right out of the box, but there was a bundle you could buy that gave you some extra stuff right out of the box sold in the PlayStation store. I don’t know about the steam store, but in the PlayStation store long before any Takeova DLC now the power DLC they cannot deny it is in fact, a live service game without any question because that DLC is a continuing revenue stream. It adds money to the already acquired initial sale, but whether they update shit in the game or not does it make it a live service game at all. Take a game like fallout 76 illuminate the cash app and fall out first and what you have is a very long running game with multiple DLC‘s. That’s not a live service game because they wouldn’t of ask you for any money after the initial purchase price But I had a cash app and suddenly it’s a live service game. Look up some fucking definitions before you use words OK in this sentence three ever ever continuing revenue stream it’s a live service game even if it’s a single player standalone game that Hass to connect to the Internet for whatever reason if they have a store that sells you cosmetics for your single player game that’s a live service game And I guarantee it’s probably getting updates. That’s why I asked to connect to the Internet bug fixes things like that but most importantly it’s selling you outfits and other cosmetics so that they can keep the game running for a long period of time and keep making fixes and change his arm, adding features and things like that to the game. They can do that for free but if they make money while they’re doing it, it’s a live service game.
